Biz: Tribune’s Lee Abrams is an e-mail forwarding freaking idiot

  • disease Tribune Corp. was the subject of a massive New York Times exposé, describing the company as a bankrupt, immature, oversexed company. Not exactly good PR.
  • symptom Off-the-wall Chief Innovation Officer Lee Abrams sends an e-mail to every Tribune staffer. It includes the word “sluts” and links to a satire that included nudity.
  • cure On Friday, Abrams, who is responsible for ruining the radio industry, resigned. Perhaps this might be a change for the better for the troubled Tribune? Hah! source

World: Pirates apparently aren’t aware that the U.S. Navy is powerful

  • cause A bunch of suspected pirates attempted to attack the U.S. Navy ship, the USS Nicholas, which was in the Indian Ocean. You know, a powerful U.S. Navy ship with a massive crew.
  • effect The crew returned fire, chased after the suspected pirates’ skiff, sank it, arrested them, went to the mothership and arrested THOSE suspected pirates. In all, five stupid people were arrested. source

  • Macquarie Group Australia had a pretty awesome gaffe happen on live TV thanks to one of their bumbling workers, who decided to look at porn while an analyst was getting interviewed for a financial program. Best part of the video is the very end. A classic of the form. The guy responsible could be in huge trouble, by the way. (Duh.) source
