Politics: Shepard Smith thinks fast on his feet, saves Jamie Foxx’s rep

  • The West Virginia mining disaster is scary and stuff, and all some jerks can think about is trashing Jamie Foxx on live TV. We’re impressed with Shep’s way of preventing that prank from getting more play than it could’ve.

Politics: Max Headroom: Mitch McConnell swears on live TV. Awesome!

  • Skip to the 2:00 mark Mitch McConnell said a lot of stuff about health care and how he hates the Democrats in this interview on “Fox News Sunday,” but we only heard him say one word. And yes, it’s a profanity. Way to go, Senator! You’re a regular Rahm Emanuel!

  • Mike Pence can’t spell On “Meet the Press,” Rep. Mike Pence manages to get past the creepy guy at the 5 second mark to complain about the upcoming health care summit, which he claims the Democrats will spell S-E-T-U-P. Wait a second …

  • Bayh a “corporatist”? On “Larry King Live” the other night, Bill Maher said some damning things about Evan Bayh. “He’ll become a lobbyist now, which is what he was before.” Oof! The meat is in the first minute and a half, but the rest is good, too.

Offbeat: Protip: If you work at a financial firm, don’t look at porn. Ever.

  • Macquarie Group Australia had a pretty awesome gaffe happen on live TV thanks to one of their bumbling workers, who decided to look at porn while an analyst was getting interviewed for a financial program. Best part of the video is the very end. A classic of the form. The guy responsible could be in huge trouble, by the way. (Duh.) source

Culture, U.S.: Fox officially thinks Tim Roth is more important than Obama

  • tension For the last few months, Barack Obama has made more addresses on live TV than networks are happy with, because those addresses cost them lots of advertising revenue. Then again, Obama doesn’t really care about that when there’s a financial crisis and SWINE FLU PANIC OMG going on.
  • response For Obama’s address tomorrow night, Fox has waved its middle finger in the air and decided to ignore the address, choosing instead to go with the Tim Roth drama “Lie to Me.” Some will say Rupert Murdoch has political reasons for this, but we think he’s just a prick. source
