Politics: Evan Bayh: Former Democratic Senator joins Fox News

  • Democrat Evan Bayh, who was both Governor of and Senator from Indiana, has signed up to be a Fox News contributor. Bayh declined to run for re-election in 2010, and some thought he might become a lobbyist after his exit. They were wrong, though, and now he’s primed to become Fox’s new token Democrat. (Alan Colmes! What, what?) Now, some might say that any Democrat would be crazy to join (and, in doing so, help promote) a place like Fox News, given that it’s, well, Fox News. Others, however, argue that people like Bayh are doing an invaluable service to the Democratic cause in providing a liberal perspective to an audience that would not otherwise hear one. What do y’all think? Is Bayh a sell out, or will his stint at Fox help open some eyes? source

Politics: “No Labels”: The center, annoyed by the election, goes Tea Party

  • You screw over the moderates, they’re gonna organize. That appears to be the message of “No Labels,” a new citizen-focused political group that includes such spurned political figures as Michael “Moderate God” Bloomberg, “Morning” Joe Scarborough, Mike “screwed by Christine O’Donnell” Castle, Charlie “screwed by Marco Rubio” Crist and Evan “I’ve had enough of this crap so I’m quitting the Senate” Bayh among its ranks. Each of those guys will be taking part in the webcast the group will use to launch its platform: “Not left. Not right. Forward.” We expect the partisans (on both sides) to dismiss this crazy idea in 3 … 2 … 1 … source

Politics: Max Headroom: Mitch McConnell swears on live TV. Awesome!

  • Skip to the 2:00 mark Mitch McConnell said a lot of stuff about health care and how he hates the Democrats in this interview on “Fox News Sunday,” but we only heard him say one word. And yes, it’s a profanity. Way to go, Senator! You’re a regular Rahm Emanuel!

  • Mike Pence can’t spell On “Meet the Press,” Rep. Mike Pence manages to get past the creepy guy at the 5 second mark to complain about the upcoming health care summit, which he claims the Democrats will spell S-E-T-U-P. Wait a second …

  • Bayh a “corporatist”? On “Larry King Live” the other night, Bill Maher said some damning things about Evan Bayh. “He’ll become a lobbyist now, which is what he was before.” Oof! The meat is in the first minute and a half, but the rest is good, too.

Politics: Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh to Congress, Obama: Drop dead.

  • There are better ways to serve my fellow citizens. I love working for the people of Indiana. I love helping our citizens make the most of their lives, but I do not love Congress.
  • Senator Evan Bayh • On his decision to leave Congress after two terms. His press conference today (which featured his son wearing perhaps the ugliest sweater ever) ripped hard on the gridlock of Congress, saying there was “too much narrow ideology and not enough practical problem solving.” Even though he could’ve safely won his seat (and also put the Democratic party in a scramble), fears on his electoral status didn’t play a part in his decision. Crappy politics did. “If Washington, D.C. could be more like Indiana, Washington would be a better place,” he said. Oh, and he didn’t tell Harry Reid. source
