  • » Why not? Basically, the Texas Senator is afraid of falling victim to a Tea Party challenge. She has good reason, too: In a September poll, only 25% of Republicans said they’d support her for renomination. Granted, she does have a not-so-bad approval rating of 58%, but, as Public Policy Polling points out, both Lisa Murkowski and Mike Castle had even higher numbers prior to their primaries, and both lost to Tea Party challengers. In an entirely unrelated development, Texas Democrats were seen licking their chops shortly after Hutchison’s announcement.

Politics: “No Labels”: The center, annoyed by the election, goes Tea Party

  • You screw over the moderates, they’re gonna organize. That appears to be the message of “No Labels,” a new citizen-focused political group that includes such spurned political figures as Michael “Moderate God” Bloomberg, “Morning” Joe Scarborough, Mike “screwed by Christine O’Donnell” Castle, Charlie “screwed by Marco Rubio” Crist and Evan “I’ve had enough of this crap so I’m quitting the Senate” Bayh among its ranks. Each of those guys will be taking part in the webcast the group will use to launch its platform: “Not left. Not right. Politics: Three major things to watch for in today’s primary races

  • delawareGOP establishment candidate Mike Castle takes on Tea Partier 
    Christine O’Donnell; if Castle wins, he wins in November. If O’Donnell does, all bets are off.
  • rangel The ethics-tainted congressman hasn’t lost the establishment and could win today, though that wouldn’t mean he’s out of the ethics woods by any means.
  • palinThe political kingmaker has endorsed five different candidates in today’s primaries. Are any of them gonna win, anyway? It could be a bellwether. source
