Politics: Won’t Sharron Angle please think of the local news?

  • I can’t remember a time that we’ve ever had trouble with interviews. Especially with people running for office — they usually beat our door down.
  • KRNV news director Mary Beth Farrell • Explaining how flabbergasted she is that Nevada bizarro hippie candidate Sharron Angle has seemingly gone out of her way to avoid talking to the local mainstream media. In choosing to talk only to conservative news outlets, she’s created an atmosphere where local news outlets have become increasingly desperate to talk to the lady taking on Sen. Harry Reid. Some of those conservative outlets suggest that Reid is the evasive one, something TV news outlets scoff at. “He may still dodge questions, but at least you can see him do it,” said Jason Pasco, the news director at Reno’s KTVN. source

Politics: RNC finance director Rob Bickhart hits three strikes, is out

  • one Bickhart was behind a Powerpoint presentation that compared Harry Reid to Scooby Doo and promised a fundraising campaign driven by “fear” of Obama.
  • two As a result of that Powerpoint, Bickhart’s compensation came under scrutiny. Dude got paid $370,000 over a nine month period – or more than the president.
  • three Then there was the strip club scandal. That little piece of drama caught the media’s attention and made Bickhart’s performance look even worse. See ya! source

Politics: Is Harry Reid pondering what we’re pondering?

The Senate Majority Leader can’t seem to make up his mind – first climate change was coming first, then immigration, now it’s climate change again. source

Politics: Lindsey Graham angry over immigration bill push

  • Moving forward on immigration — in this hurried, panicked manner — is nothing more than a cynical political ploy. I know from my own personal experience the tremendous amounts of time, energy and effort that must be devoted to this issue to make even limited progress.
  • South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham • On why he’s pulling his support for the climate change bill. Simply put, with the new restrictive Arizona law fresh in people’s minds, Democrats seem to want to push immigration ahead of climate change, and it’s making Graham pretty angry. Just a note, though: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has not made a decision one way or the other.  He just hasn’t firmly said that climate change will go first, and that’s what has Graham so angry (understandably). source

Politics: Max Headroom: Harry Reid knows how to fire a shotgun

  • symbolic showdown On “Fox News Sunday,” Republicans Marco Rubio and Charlie Crist had a straight-up debate over the Florida Senate seat they both want. Crist is a moderate. Rubio is the Tea Party’s Great Cuban Hope. Part 1 is above, but the other two parts are also worth watching.

  • “Lamestream”? What?Sometimes, Sarah Palin says mean things towards people she doesn’t like, and yesterday’s epic Tea Party Woodstock thang yesterday was no exception. Palin used the not-nice phrase “lamestream media.” If she becomes president in 2012, her four years are gonna suck.

  • So, where was Harry?Harry Reid was the (negative) focus of the Tea Party event in Searchlight, Nevada yesterday, but he wasn’t around. Instead, he was at an NRA event, shooting off a gun, just in case he needed self defense when he tried to go home later that night. Better safe than sorry.

Politics: The Searchlight anti-Harry-Reid event is kind of a big deal

  • It’s like a microcosm of the Tea Party movement. Especially the cat. As the city of Searchlight, Nevada gets overtaken by the Tea Party for the day, with Sarah Palin as the centerpiece of the movement. Fun fact: Former SNL star Victoria Jackson will also be there, according to this video. Our friends at FreeRepublic have the event covered. source

Politics: Harry Reid has a Tea Party competitor. Did Harry put him there?

  • Some Tea Party members thinks he was planted by Reid’s buddies. Jon Scott Ashjian, who just declared as a candidate in the 2010 election for Harry Reid’s Nevada senate seat, is drawing more than a little controversy. “Nobody in the Tea Party knows who he is. He didn’t know any of the principles of the Tea Party,” said Danny Tarkanian, one guy who’s gunning for the Republican nomination (and whose dad is a famous former UNLV basketball coach). Sue Lowden, the GOP frontrunner, says she’s never seen him at a Tea Party event. Strange. source
