U.S.: Discovery Channel Building hostage-taker shot, killed

  • the hostage situation that began earlier today at the Discovery Channel Building in Silver Spring, Maryland has been resolved. James Lee, the hostage taker, was shot by police at 4:50 pm and taken into custody shortly thereafter. The three hostages are all safe and uninjured. Crisis averted! U.S.: Hurricane Earl leaning in the general direction of the Outer Banks

  • A small error of 100 miles in the wrong direction could be a huge impact difference. Even a minor shift back to the west could bring impacts to portions of the coastline from the mid-Atlantic northwards.
  • National Hurricane Center Director Bill Read • Discussing how bad Hurricane Earl could be for the East Coast.
