I felt that if I had played that game, we had a lot better chance to win. I felt we would have been able to win that game. It was an extremely exhausting event and put me down as far as I probably ever had to go at that point in my life.
Former Raiders center Barret Robbins • Who is in a halfway house after a stay in jail. Robbins disappeared two days before the 2003 Super Bowl and blames himself for the team’s loss. that wasn’t his only problem – he was booted from the league in 2004 after testing positive for steroids and in 2005 got into a fight with police where he got shot. Robbins just left jail after violating his probation after being caught using drugs. Dude, stay clean. • source
They’re not going away completely, but they are cutting back. One of the most obvious public exponents of General Motors may be its role in the hugely popular NASCAR. GM, largely represented by Chevy, will take a step back, cutting funds from some big stars’ teams (Dale Jr. and Kevin Harvick) and overall doing less. NASCAR’s already been hit hard by the global crisis, with many job losses in the last year. This is just another chink in the Armor-All. source
The guy who won’t retire did a no-show today. Quarterback Brett Favre – who retired from the team where he spent most of his career, then unretired with a new team, then retired again, and now seems ready unretire again and turn heel – is, at least for now, off the table for the Minnesota Vikings. Why? He missed some team functions he was required to be at. Depending on how his post-surgery shoulder feels, he could be back on the table later, though. He’s playing hokey-pokey pretty hardcore for a football player, eh? source
