  • Touré tokes up The Rolling Stone writer and MSNBC contributor had a pretty hilarious rant about California’s pot proposition, ending it with this clever one-liner: “The people who are railing the hardest against decriminalization are those who are most in need of a smoke!” Win.

Demand Media, through sites like eHow and Cracked.com, is far more known for shoveling as much SEO-friendly content onto the Web as they can. Yet, they could be worth more in an IPO. What is our world coming to?

Tech: “Google Instant” trend continues, this time with “iTunes Instant”

Politics: John Boehner sounds downright reasonable on tax cuts

  • If the only option I have is to vote for those at 250 and below, of course I’m going to do that. But I’m going to do everything I can to fight to make sure that we extend the current tax rates for all Americans.
  • House Minority Leader John Boehner • Revealing his willingness to accept only an extension of the Bush-era tax cuts for the middle class. Obama made waves last week by saying he didn’t want to extend them for the wealthy. Now Boehner says that’s undesirable but something he can live with. That’s surprising. source

World: So, Iran’s ready to free detained hiker after all apparently

  • Blame the delay on a power struggle. Apparently Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wanted to release Sarah Shourd to prove his country respected the “dignity” of women. Other top leaders reportedly complained about his reasoning. So now, Shourd will reportedly be let go on $500,000 bail and can leave the country, but will have to return for trial to face spying charges (fat chance). She can now reportedly go at any time. The other two hikers can’t ‘cuz they’re guys. source

Music: Joaquin Phoenix movie turns Spacehog guitarist into exhibitionist

  • Remember Spacehog? Well, they kinda disappeared quick after “In the Meantime” made them famous for 15 minutes (too bad because we really dug it back in the day), but the guitarist of this band, Antony Langdon, just showed up in the most random place ever – Joaquin Phoenix’s bizarre new documentary, “I’m Still Here.” Langdon was one of Phoenix’s assistants, something of Phoenix’s “Johnny Drama.” Langdon he earned his keep with some very embarrassing, humiliating scenes (yes, there’s nudity – and more!).
