Politics: Max Headroom: Rachel Maddow totally biased towards the iPad

  • frum the heart Conservative commentator David Frum isn’t cut from the same cloth as the Rush Limbaughs of the world, and he makes that clear with this rip on Limbaugh and Fox News. They don’t work for Republicans, the Republicans work for them.
  • sarcasm = dangerous At the end of this clip from last week, Sean Hannity threw the unbelievable phrase “Tim McVeigh wannabes” in reference to the Tea Party. And the Tea Partiers cheered. The left was like, whoa. But Raw Story reports that it was sarcasm.
  • feel like making love On Friday, rubber-faced personality machine Rachel Maddow brought Xeni Jardin from Boing Boing onto her show to talk about how attracted they collectively are to the iPad. Maddow is probably caressing one in her arms right now.

Culture: SoCal quake: Deepak Chopra takes credit for something he didn’t do

  • Had a powerful meditation just now – caused an earthquake in Southern California. Was meditating on Shiva mantra & earth began to shake. Sorry about that.
  • Meditation guru Deepak Chopra • Regarding the California quake he didn’t cause. If he was making a joke about the quake, it didn’t go over super well, because it quickly became the object of derision. If he was being honest, man, he needs to meditate less. We can shake the earth too with our loud, angry typing, Deepak. You should be scared of us. source

U.S., World: SoCal quake: Wannabe viral video becomes actual viral video

U.S., World: First 6.9, now 7.2: The Baja California quake gives SoCal the shakes

  • “Strong earthquake in the Los Angeles area”: Talk about a phrase we could go without hearing. While the quake was powerful, it definitely wasn’t an end-of-the-world situation by any stretch. Mediaite has the initial reports from CNN, which they totally got the jump on over MSNBC and Fox News, including the use of Twitter. source

Politics: Another top Republican takes RNC to task for strip club saga

  • This kind of thing has got to stop or they won’t get any contributions. The people that contribute to the committees, both Democrat and Republican, want to know that their money is well spent for the cause, and it needs to be that way.
  • Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl • Speaking on Fox News Sunday about the current scandal facing the Republican National Committee, where they spent much of the money designed to win elections on fairly unnecessary things – private planes and strip clubs, anyone? He’s the second top conservative to say anything about the scandal: Family Research Council head Tony Perkins trashed on the RNC the other day, saying donors should spend their money elsewhere. source

Culture: Weird Al could make second career out of grammar correction

  • We want him to do this everywhere. With that same annoyed look. We would post every single video of him doing it, because good grammar deserves rewards.
