Culture: Adam Sandler on his deceased “Remote Control” cohort, Ken Ober

  • Ken Ober was one of the sharpest, quickest, sweetest guys I ever met. He was always a great friend and I will miss him very much.
  • Adam Sandler • Speaking of the death of Ken Ober, who he worked closely with for five seasons on early MTV non-music foray “Remote Control.” Ober didn’t gain the fame that his co-stars – which also included Denis Leary and Colin Quinn – bathed in after the show ended its run. But he did build a solid career as a producer after his game-show-hosting career ended. And this, friends, is why we should give “Downtown” Julie Brown and Adam Curry a call. You never know when you’ll miss your chance. • source

Politics: Max Headroom special edition: Nobody will shut up about Sarah Palin

  • She’s on Oprah! Today was the height of the Sarah Palin-a-palooza, as the former vice presidential candidate went on Oprah to hawk her book. In this clip, she tells us how she really feels about Levi Johnston. She refers to him, disparagingly, as “Ricky Hollywood.”

  • “All-American Nobody”On “The Ed Show,” MSNBC’s liberal sorta-answer to Glenn Beck, Ed Schultz, refers to Palin as an “All-Amerian Nobody” while emphasizing her role in losing the 2008 election. Dude, you could’ve totally gone with “All-American Reject” there, too!

  • Annoyed at “Rogue”Some of the biggest targets of Sarah Palin’s scorn in “Going Rogue,” staffers working for John McCain in 2008, took shots at the former veep candidate on “Today” this morning. The mainstream press spin on the book: She’s just settling scores.

Culture: Here’s what no more self-breast-exams is gonna cost us

  • Back in 1990, this was groundbreaking television. “Beverly Hills, 90210” tackled Brenda Walsh’s teen breast cancer scare – a tumor she found, by the way, after examining her own breast. Beyond adding to the obvious dangers of breast cancer – there’s a whole MONTH dedicated to it, for crying out loud – no more breast self-examinations means that the possibility of this scene happening in real life just went down significantly. Did the U.S. think of all the lives that could be saved, or even the amount of cheesy TV melodrama that could be created? Of course not. This is why experts are questioning the changes. source

Offbeat: Bugatti Veyrons, pelicans and water don’t mix very well

  • Well, that’s bound to knock down its value a couple of notches. This Bugatti Veyron, a million-dollar car that’s one of the fastest in the world, recently met a watery fate thanks to a stray pelican. There are other videos with more to them than this, but this is pretty much all you need to know about this crash. source

Politics: Florida Gov. Charlie Crist: A marked man for supporting Obama

At the time, this embrace – and Crist’s embrace of the Obama’s stimulus plan – seemed like a good idea. Then the tea parties began, and now Crist is in trouble. source

Politics: Why doesn’t Obama use Twitter? Clumsy fingers.

  • Well, first of all, let me say that I have never used Twitter. My thumbs are too clumsy to type in things on the phone.
  • President Barack Obama • Discussing at a town hall with a bunch of Chinese students in Shanghai why he doesn’t use Twitter. He goes further into a larger dialogue on free speech, though, explaining that although information flows a little too freely for his taste sometimes (a lot of criticism comes with it), he really appreciates how it “makes our democracy stronger and it makes me a better leader because it forces me to hear opinions that I don’t want to hear.” Nice save, bro. • source
