I think 2010 is just to early. Eventually, marriage equality will happen for everyone. But we think we have a better chance of winning 2012.
Marriage Equality Silicon Valley spokesman Rick Infantino • Regarding the delay in pushing for a gay-marriage fight in California. The group thinks it’s too risky to try again after losing the fight over Prop 8 last year. They’re not alone, but it’s not universal. Other state gay-advocacy organizations are still pushing for a fight in 2010. • source
You pedal the bike, the Internet goes faster. It’s a total carrot on a stick thing. Or at least a really entertaining viral video of a technology we’d never use. Just think, though, if this showed up in gyms, people would use it.source
Well, the last time I had to confront something like this was when I voted for the civil rights bill and my opponent voted against it. At that time, we had a lot of Ku Klux Klan folks and white supremacists and folks in white sheets and other things running around causing trouble.
Democratic Rep. John Dingell, the longest-serving member of the House of Representatives • Talking about the protests that have cropped up at town halls across the country, including in his own district. One man notably said to Dingell, “your healthcare plan is going to take healthcare away from my son and kill him!” Whew. Can’t we all just get along? As much as Dingell has a point, he’s clouding that point by saying something designed to anger the other side. • source
You inconsiderate bastards. Have you considered that people besides you (or the people you’re trying to attack) use this service? That this social networking stuff is actually a resource, not a toy? That these tools have wide-ranging uses beyond your limited scope? Admittedly, we shouldn’t simply be upset at those distributing a denial of service attack. Twitter has some significant scalability issues that make it vulnerable to attacks like these. But still, jerks. Screw you. The internet isn’t your toy. source
Several months ago Coach Pitino informed me about the alleged extortion attempt. I’ve now been informed that there may be other details which, if true, I find surprising. My thoughts are with Coach Pitino and his family.
University of Louisville President James Ramsey • Regarding the bizarre mess his star basketball coach, Rick Pitino, has found himself in. Pitino himself is actually clean and hasn’t been charged with a crime. But Karen Sypher, a waitress at a Louisville restaurant, allegedly had sex with him (which Pitino admits), forced him to pay for an abortion for her, and – years later – tried to extort him by alleging rape charges against him. You know, pretty much the kind of thing you don’t want to have spill out into the press. Best of luck, Rick – it sounds like you’ve got a lot to deal with at the moment. • source
