U.S.: TSA warns of implant-based bomb concealment

  • The new normal in airport security? It was announced today by the TSA that terrorists might try to surgically implant bombs into themselves to bypass airport checkpoints, a warning which seems to imply further heightening of security could be coming. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney explicitly said that the warning “does not relate to an imminent or specific threat.” That said, that a terrorist could hide a bomb in their body is fairly obvious, so whatever intelligence they’ve gleaned must be enough to drag this out of the realm of the hypothetical. The TSA has also advised international airports to tighten their security. source

World: Libya: Gaddafi’s grumpy, calling attacking allied nations “terrorists”

  • You have proven to the world that you are not civilized, that you are terrorists — animals attacking a safe nation that did nothing against you.
  • Muammar Gaddafi • Offering, on Libyan state television, his personal assessment of the countries currently bombing the heck out of Libya. According to CNN, an image of a fist crushing a plane that said “USA” – which kinda looks like this — flashed on the screen. No symbolism in that whatsoever.  source

World: Latest Iraqi terror attack aimed squarely at Catholics

  • 57 were killed during the standoff in a Baghdad Catholic Church
  • 75 more people were wounded in the attack
  • 17 of those killed were Iraqi security forces
  • two of those killed were priests source
  • » An awful end for many: Beyond the fact that terrorists attacked a Catholic Church in Baghdad, perhaps the worst fact about this whole situation is that many of the killed were hostages – most were killed or wounded after explosives were set off in the church. And they were killed because of their faith. The pope has already denounced the attack, which the Islamic State of Iraq took credit for with a note on their Web site: “The Mujahedeens raided a filthy nest of the nests of polytheism, which has been long taken by the Christians of Iraq as a headquarter for a war against the religion of Islam and they were able by the grace of God and His glory to capture those were gathered in and to take full control of all its entrances.”

U.S.: George W. Bush military targets: Afghanistan, Iraq, Buffalo … ?

  • Bush nearly pulled the Buffalo trigger in 2002. Imagine this scene. You’re living in Buffalo in 2002, probably sitting in a restaurant eating some wings or a garbage plate or something like that. All of a sudden, you see soldiers running through the street, attempting to arrest some terrorists. You’d be freaked out, right? Well, the Bush Administration was considering doing just this in 2002 in an attempt to arrest the terrorists who later became known as the Lackawanna Six. Guess who was pushing for this approach? That’s right. Dick Cheney. source
