Politics, U.S.: Max Headroom special edition: Sarah Palin is f#(^ing crazy

  • The resignation video
  • Our analysis
0:05-0:09 – Sarah Palin’s speech, already crazy, takes a turn about here, linking the military to freedom of speech.
    0:09-0:14 – Oh God, please don’t.
0:23-0:51 – In your analysis of the press, could you be more bitingly cynical, Sarah?
0:52-1:04 – She just killed whatever credibility she had left with the press.
1:05-1:28 – Just don’t tell her crowd of supporters. They still love her.
1:29-1:38 – Trust us. Ricky Hollywood doesn’t regret his moment in the sun. source

World: Ahmadinejad sure took his sweet time removing his buddy from office

  • The Iranian nation didn’t expect the ink on the leader’s letter to dry out while it was not yet implemented.
  • Maj. Gen. Seyed Hassan • Chairman of Iran’s joint chiefs of staff, regarding Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s slow timing regarding booting out his vice president, Esfandiar Rahim Mashai. Ahmadinejad was ordered to remove Mashai from office by Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, due to comments he made that were seen as sympathetic towards Israel. • source

Politics, U.S.: Fox News has an interesting angle on Sarah Palin’s resignation

  • … setting up a potential run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.
  • Fox News • In a report on Sarah Palin’s resignation, which she plans to complete at the end of the month. Not that we don’t see this as a possibility, but when someone abruptly resigns from their major post, is this really the first thing people think of? • source

World: British prime minister Gordon Brown has like zero support

  • I now believe your continued leadership makes a Conservative victory more, not less likely. That would be disastrous for our country.
  • Work and Sensions Secretary James Purnell • Who, in a very harshly-written letter to the media, asked Gordon Brown to resign. If it were just Purnell doing this, it’d be a big deal, but he’s only the fifth Labour Party member to resign from Brown’s government this week. WTF dude? Can’t you keep it together? Need a hug or something? Labour Party support is at historic lows, BTW. • source

U.S.: Someone got the ax for that NYC Air Force One incident

  • Louis Caldera eats the blame for the incident. The Director of the White House Military Office, who spent much of the last two weeks in PR spin mode after the incident which he OK’d on his watch, turned in his resignation on Friday, saying he couldn’t do the job anymore in the wake of the incident. Obama was furious over the incident, which – let’s face it – was pretty stupid. source
