Culture: Note to Twitter: Rick Astley didn’t die in a Berlin hotel room

  • Known for his 80’s pop hit “Never Gonna Give You Up,” the 43-year-old Rick Astley has been pronounced dead today. Astley’s body was found at the Angleterre Hotel in Berlin after an ambulance responded to an emergency call from his hotel room.
  • A CNN iReport submitted by John Manker • Saying that Rick Astley died. The attempted death pool Rickroll, perpetrated by image forum, 4Chan (whose members often go by “Anonymous” and are often involved in pranks), is an out and out lie. Just so you’re aware. • source

Culture: Joe Jackson: Where was the Michael love when he was alive?

  • I wish the world had recognized him when he were living. Right now he’s bigger than ever. But I wish he was here to see all this, to hear all this.
  • Joe Jackson • Michael Jackson’s dad, on the death of his son and the huge torrent of response the superstar has gotten posthumously, including at the BET awards, where Joe discussed his son’s life. Sorry, Joe. • source

U.S.: Where does Gary Condit stand in the Levy case?

  • Everyone was thinking that Gary was involved in something that he was not a part of and it was horrible. It has always followed him, followed our family.
  • Jean Condit • Gary’s mom, on how the case ruined his life. Condit was forced to make a living in real estate in Arizona after the glare of the spotlight hit, and is not ready to talk about the case. Understandably. It ruined his life. • source
