U.S.: Chandra Levy’s mom not 100% sure Ingmar Guandique killed her

  • To be honest, I always have that 5 percent of not being sure.
  • Susan Levy • Expressing doubts about the conviction of Ingmar Guandique – whether he was the dude who killed her daughter, Chandra Levy, a decade ago. This didn’t stop the elder Levy from calling Guandique “lower than a cockroach” and a “hideous creature” the other day, mind you. We understand Levy’s pain, and while we hope, for both their sakes, the right man was convicted, we can understand her doubts. This case has been a freaking mess ever since the name “Gary Condit” was tied to it all those years ago. source

U.S.: Chandra Levy trial has a pretty major DNA-related problem

  • bad Gary Condit’s name was dragged in the mud over the Chandra Levy situation – and now, years later, Ingmar Guandique is on trial for the murder.
  • worse During the trial, scientific experts drop a bombshell – no DNA or forensic evidence links either man to the crime scene. This is troubling. source
  • » To make things worse: There is some DNA evidence (semen and fingerprints, to be specific) but it doesn’t match either man. It doesn’t mean that Ingmar Guandique still isn’t the suspect. It just means it’ll be much harder for the prosecution to prove it.

U.S.: Where does Gary Condit stand in the Levy case?

  • Everyone was thinking that Gary was involved in something that he was not a part of and it was horrible. It has always followed him, followed our family.
  • Jean Condit • Gary’s mom, on how the case ruined his life. Condit was forced to make a living in real estate in Arizona after the glare of the spotlight hit, and is not ready to talk about the case. Understandably. It ruined his life. • source

U.S.: Years later, an arrest warrant in the Chandra Levy murder

  • A cold, infamous case The murder of congressional staffer Chandra Levy in 2001, long a hot button on the media radar, had the effect of destroying the career of a politician – California congressman Gary Condit, who had an affair with Levy separate from the incident. Levy’s case only left the public eye after 9/11 and is considered a key example of media sensationalism.
  • The suspect An arrest warrant was issued for Ingmar Guandique, an illegal immigrant already in jail for similar attacks on women in the same area of D.C. Levy was murdered. The case, long cold, was reinvigorated after a new set of investigators was put onto the case. And unlike Condit, they appear to have credible evidence against Guandique. source
