Tech: Canabalt is the biggest dead-simple time-sucking game ever

Canabalt
  • Canabalt makes us want to stop everything we’re doing and just play it for six hours. But we couldn’t do that to you guys. The game, originally designed for the Experimental Gameplay Project, somehow turns a one-button game into the most-exciting duck-and-jump adventure this side of “Die Hard.” Best part? There’s an iPhone version that’s just as exciting (and simply-designed) as the Flash game.source

Tech: Adobe comes up with a workaround to the Flash-on-iPhone problem

  • Apple has been resistant to Flash showing up on its baby – you know, the iPhone. It’s gone out of its way to prevent the otherwise-ubiquitous software, focusing instead on platform-specific apps. source
  • In its new version of Flash, Adobe allows you to convert Flash files into iPhone programs. Soon, we expect Steve Jobs to show up on Adobe’s property with a shotgun, screaming belligerently. source

Tech: *shakes head* … Someone had to compare Snow Leopard to Vista.

  • This is the Vista of Apple’s history. Not that much. I know – I’m misconstruing the gravity of it, but this is kinda the closest thing to Apple’s Vista.
  • CNET’s Brian Cooley • Describing the various incompatibilities created by the new version of Mac OSX. On top of many programs not working (100 is a number being thrown around), it includes ancient versions of Flash and Java, and has bricked some machines. Hmm. And one thing we noticed: Dragging and dropping to the dock doesn’t work right anymore. The result? NERD RAGE. • source

Tech: Protip: If you installed Snow Leopard, upgrade Flash. Now.

  • The new Mac version installs a long-outdated version of Adobe’s app. You might have had a fully-upgraded version of Flash before upgrading to Snow Leopard last week, but you probably don’t have it this week. That’s because, as part of Apple’s install process, it installs Flash Player 10.0.23.1, an old version with known vulnerabilities. (The current version is 10.0.32.18.) So, do yourself a favor, guys. Upgrade Flash. Now. source

Culture: Are you a fan of Sesame Street? You’ll freaking love this.

101 Muppets of Sesame Street
  • There’s a lot of characters here, most of which we’ve never seen before, but all of them incredibly awesome. We’re suckers for deep, interesting Flash infographics like this one, and you should be too. Most unsung popular character here? Grover. Duh.source

Tech: Adobe wants to expand Flash’s reach beyond the PC

  • Adobe’s most valuable cash cow has transformed from being the driving engine behind Animutation to being the driving engine behind online video sites such as YouTube and Hulu. source
  • They aren’t ready to settle for that; they want a much bigger piece of the pie – the set-top television market. Adobe’s CEO will address the National Association of Broadcasters today. source
