Politics, U.S.: Speaking of celebrity couples, Bristol Palin broke up with her bf

  • They have a kid with a gubernatorial granny. Sarah Palin – remember her? She was that vice presidential candidate who was on everyone’s lips for like two months. Then we forgot about her. Anyway, her daughter Bristol, who was pregnant during the campaign, broke up with her boyfriend Levi Johnston recently. They have son, Tripp. (As in “Tripp up the campaign”? Sorry, that was harsh.) But anyway, yeah. Now it’s on the record. Back to not caring about Sarah Palin anymore. source

Uh, dude … Joel Anderson, a California assemblyman, recently introduced a bill called AB-255, which would require map programs like Google Maps to blur out buildings such as hospitals, schools, churches and government buildings.   • We are taking an approach that wants the banks to help the economy and whether it is ultimately good for a particular bank is secondary. Weak banks are being asked to do things that will erode their position.

    Barack Obama suggested these changes to the country’s educational system today:

    1. He wants to tie teachers’ pay to their performance; if their students rock it in the classroom, they get paid more.

    2. He wants to increase the length of the school year. But what about summer camp, dude?! Summer camp rules!

    3. He wants more nontraditional charter schools. Why not, right?

  • Ruffling feathers respectfully Obama doesn’t seem afraid to take on those who disagree with him. “Too many supporters of my party have resisted the idea of rewarding excellence in teaching with extra pay,” he said, “even though we know it can make a difference in the classroom.” Despite the anger over the message, teachers unions liked the fact that he appears to be willing to compromise on the issue, unlike Bush. source
