  • Vancouver, Washington Police Chief Clifford Cook • Regarding the acid attack that his police department spent hundreds of manhours on, only to find out that the attack was self-inflicted. Bethany Storro, 28, spent days in the hospital because of the caustic liquid thrown in her face (which fortunately didn’t hit her eyes because she had just bought new sunglasses). She claimed the attack took place at a Starbucks, but over time discrepancies started to show in her story. No word on if she’ll be charged. source

U.S.: Trees fall in Brooklyn: Here’s the crazy tornado that killed one

  • This video is crazy, but not as crazy as the fact that a tornado hit NYC. Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens to be exact. The storm hit fast and had winds as fast as 100 miles per hour. It even affected The King of Queens. “It’s like a war zone out here,” said female Queens resident Gene King. “Trees are down, some houses have come apart.” Hope everyone is OK in NYC tonight. U.S.: Lame: Government pins increases in drug use on marijuana

  • Isn’t it weird how the government still plays the anti-pot line? See, in the latest version of the annual National Survey on Drug Use and Health, illicit drug use among the populace is up approximately 0.7 percent in 2009, to 8.7 percent. The study says the increase “was also driven in large part by the use of marijuana.” National Drug Control Policy Director Gil Kerlikowske seems to be convinced that marijuana’s possible medicinal effects don’t make it medicine, but continue to make it “an entry drug.” Whatever. More numbers:
  • 21.2%of young adults screwed with illicit drugs in 2009, which is very high
  • <50%of young adults think that pot is harmful – the lowest level since 2002
  • 23.3% of all people use tobacco products, a new all-time low source
