U.S.: Trees fall in Brooklyn: Here’s the crazy tornado that killed one

  • This video is crazy, but not as crazy as the fact that a tornado hit NYC. Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens to be exact. The storm hit fast and had winds as fast as 100 miles per hour. It even affected The King of Queens. “It’s like a war zone out here,” said female Queens resident Gene King. “Trees are down, some houses have come apart.” Hope everyone is OK in NYC tonight. U.S.: Some raid happened in Queens today; details? Scarce, of course.

  • what A bunch of homes in Queens, NY, were raided today by the FBI. Nobody was arrested. Later in the day, a few Congress members were briefed.
  • why? Word is that authorities were trying to disrupt a Islamic terror cell after some weekend activity drew the attention of the government. That’s all we know. source

U.S.: Students at Intermediate School 238 lose Mr. Weiner to swine flu

  • The assistant principal died last night of H1N1. In Hollis, Queens, students are mourning the death of Mitchell Wiener to swine flu – making him the fifth overall death in the U.S. and the first in New York City. He had been in the hospital in critical condition for half a week beforehand. So basically, this is very sad. source

U.S.: Swine Flu in Hollis, Queens takes down an educator big time

  • He’s on a ventilator in a hospital. Jesus. Mitch Weiner, who has worked for the district for about three decades, is NYC’s most serious case of swine flu so far. The assistant principal is critically ill. His school, and two others, will be closed until the bug dies down a little more. In case you’re wondering, swine flu is still scary, but its scariness rises and falls based on the hour. source
