Politics: Ironically, Linda McMahon having a hard time winning over the ladies

  • How can you claim to be a
political figure when you are on
    stage wrestling with your own
    daughter?
  • Connecticut resident Stacey Smith • Pinpointing the problem Linda McMahon has with wooing female voters. Part of it is that she’s one of the driving forces behind the WWE, an organization which not only doesn’t cater to women but portrays them cartoonishly. She’s also getting guff because she’s spent so much time and money on negative advertising. The end result? Richard Blumenthal is leading her 2:1 among females, the effect of which has put him well ahead in the race to replace Chris Dodd in the Senate. source

Politics: Jack Black’s Obamacare parody: Clever or simply a mistake?

  • We’re not so sure about this. We like Jack Black. We like the point it’s making. But we think it’s the kind of clip that will preach to the converted rather than convince others to think. We could see a few conservatives who might be angry enough about a clip like this to skip out on “Kung Fu Panda 2.” Or “Orange County: The Next Generation.” Or “Tenacious D: The Oboe of Destiny.”

Politics: Alvin Greene sticking to those talking points a little too much

  • So, Lawrence O’Donnell is our hero. Faced with the halting Alvin Greene on Monday night’s show, he starts off questioning by jokingly asking, “Are you a witch?” Given the opportunity to basically own the conversation, Alvin Greene completely flubs it, by answering that “DeMint started the recession.” He does the same thing for the next question. And the one after that. Dude, O’Donnell was throwing softballs your way. SOFTBALLS!  source

  • don’t ask, don’t tell In 2004, the pro-gay GOP group Log Cabin Republicans filed a lawsuit against the Justice Department, arguing that DADT was unconstitutional. The (federal) judge agreed, and today issued an injunction against the policy, halting its enforcement. source
