Tech: Mark Zuckerberg: My lawyer isn’t “unsure” about anything

  • If we said that we were unsure, I think that was likely taken out of context. Because I think we were quite sure that we did not sign a contract that says that they have any right to ownership over Facebook.
  • Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg • Responding to the widely-reported claim that Zuck’s lawyer is unsure that Zuckerberg signed a contract with Paul Ceglia. Despite this, he did reportedly have a contract with the wood fuel salesman. Just not one that gave the sketchy dude the right to 84 percent of Facebook. On a funny side note, Facebook has a lawyer named Lisa Simpson. Which is what we expected her to be all along. Right? source

Tech: Flipboard: The iPad gets a well-designed (AND FAST) news aggregator

  • The thing we noticed with Pulse News Reader after using it for a month was that it got very slow eventually. Not so with Flipboard. This app, a social-media-focused iPad app, literally blazes on the iPad, making it feel like the most natural iPad news app out there. We seriously think they knocked this one out of the park. It’s currently the most popular free iPad app, and is so popular that they’re having trouble signing everybody up. That’s right, they have the digital version of a limited supply – they have API limitations. A good problem to have. source

Politics: Underhanded: The Daily Caller names names in Journolist exposé

  • While journalists are trained never to presume motive, Journolist members tend to assume that the other side is acting out of the darkest and most dishonorable motives.
  • Daily Caller reporter Jonathan Strong • In yet another piece about Journolist, the e-mail list run by Ezra Klein that forced Dave Weigel out of his job a few weeks back. The list has long been an off-the-record spot to vent. But The Daily Caller, which once had a member that was part of Journolist, isn’t following that, giving SPECIFIC examples and specific names, and likely hurting numerous journalists in the process. While some of the attacks were harsh and underhanded (including a whole conversation about shutting down Fox News), the fact is, off the record is off the record. And The Daily Caller isn’t bothering to respect that in its articles. Protip to Daily Caller: More RNC spending exposés, fewer attacks on fellow journalists. source

U.S.: The BP’s next plan for the oil spill? Finishing a relief well, quick

  • They say they can have one ready in a matter of days. Days after BP successfully put a cap on the oil well that has largely prevented more leaking (the seepage was traced to another well), they hope to have a relief well ready to take some pressure off the oil well and prevent more damage. “The relief well is exactly where we want it, pointed in the right direction,”said BP vice president Kent Wells, who literally has the best last name ever for a vice president of his nature. source

Politics: Andrew Breitbart STILL defends his actions in Shirley Sherrod case

  • What this video clearly shows is a standard that the Tea Party has not been held to. The NAACP, it shows the audience there applauding her when she discriminates against a white farmer.
  • Big Government guy Andrew Breitbart • Explaining his reasons for publishing the heavily-edited video of Shirley Sherrod – which he claims are still valid even AFTER they’ve been discredited. Media Matters for America senior fellow Eric Boehlert thinks he knows the real answer. “Andrew had no idea what the context of the comments were, but that didn’t stop him from launching the smear campaign. … If he had any decency he would apologize to Shirley Sherrod. And would stop with the race-baiting that we’ve seen all summer.” he said. source
