Culture: Worse: “The Marriage Ref” or “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”?

  • Marriage Ref savaging Time Magazine ripped hard: “It was, at least, an interesting object lesson in how TV works. It proved that, if you are Jerry Seinfeld, NBC will put any program you want on the air, and will give you no network notes.”
  • Tonight Show tearing USA Today ripped harder: “Monday’s opening monologue, supposedly Leno’s strong suit, was tired, lame and unfunny. In other words, typical of the real Leno, rather than the Leno of public-relations imagination.”

Politics: Harold Ford explains why he isn’t running, blames the party

  • The cruel twist, of course, is that the party bosses who tried to intimidate me so that I wouldn’t even think about running against Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, who had been appointed to the seat by Gov. David A. Paterson, are the same people responsible for putting Democratic control of the Senate at risk.
  • Harold Ford Jr. • In an editorial explaining why he chose not to run for the New York Senate despite pushing hard to make his move. This quote seems a weeee bit pissed off for some reason. We’re not sure why. But like we said last night, Gawker is responsible for his campaign going nowhere. Because they made it clear that he was both completely incompetent and sounded like a carpetbagger. source

Music: Dear Brazilian band Deadly Fate: “Galpao 29” not how to win fans

  • The band has been the subject of a seemingly self-induced Twitter trending topic since last night. Do you like metal? How about spam that completely eats up Twitter? Deadly Fate has both in spades. And despite their strategy to overload the Twitter trending topics with tweets mentioning their MySpace page, they don’t seem to have gained any fans since last night, when they started trending. Wonder why. source
