Tech: Opera plays with fire, creates iPhone version of its Web browser

  • Well, this seems like a rejected app waiting to happen. Opera, the creators of a not-terrible also-ran Web browser, have created a version of the app for the iPhone which makes Web sites load really fast due to compression technology. Problem is, Apple has notoriously blocked apps that duplicate the phone’s basic functionality. This oughta be fun to watch. source

  • Nothing against Wintergreen Resort, but now is not the time to tell us that every day is a snowday, OK guys? All we want to do is escape from this winter, yet this resort thinks we want to replace one version of winter with another, more-professionally-done kind. We don’t care how nice the skiing is. The Anglo-Australian mining company is the latest focus of China’s razor-sharp focus, after four employees – including one Australian national – were charged with bribery and stealing business secrets. This comes about a month after Google suspected the country of hacking its Gibson. Sounds like somebody’s looking for a fight. source
