As I think back to my three brothers, and about what they had accomplished before I was even out of my childhood, it sometimes has occurred to me that my entire life has been a constant state of catching up.

Kennedy goes over a bunch of other things in the book – most notably that he expresses incredible amounts of remorse over the Chappaquiddick crash, which killed Mary Jo Kopechne and haunted the rest of his political career. • source
Just ask victim Thomas Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald was one of many recent victims in a rash of “flash mob” incidents in Philly. But instead of doing fun stuff, like giant pillow fights, these mobs are violent. Cars have been smashed in. People have been beaten. Stores have been robbed. Police have been forced to step up their game in the wake of the incidents, which sound like nightmares to law-abiding citizens. Three have been arrested so far, but more than 100 have taken part in the incidents. source
It’s a real hard thing to prove. Who is going to survive to testify about that? That is our challenge. But that doesn’t mean we stop trying. We want to get to the bottom of it.
USAID Office of Inspector General representative Dona Dinkler • Regarding reports that some taxpayer money meant to go to rebuilding infrastructure, such as bridges and roads, in Afghanistan (currently at $7.5 billion between 2002 and now) has instead been funneled to the Taliban. Which should probably make a lot of taxpayers angry if it’s true. • source
Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy never lost an election. After going missing Wednesday morning, the Indian president was found with the wreckage of his helicopter this morning. Four other people also died in the crash, which happened in a remote, hilly area. Reddy was a popular politician who had recently been re-elected chief minister of the Andhra Pradesh region. source
