Sports: More on the Steve McNair story: What we now know

  • the deaths McNair, a former NFL star with a co-MVP award under his belt, was found killed with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head in the Nashville apartment of Sahel Kazemi, a 20-year old woman who was described as McNair’s girlfriend.
  • what’s next Kazemi, who had with a single gunshot wound to the head, was found with the murder weapon nearby. While the case seems to have the makings of a murder-suicide, investigators haven’t ruled anything out yet. Autopsies will take place today. source

World: Manuel Zelaya’s return to Honduras could lead to a “bloodbath”

  • Jose Manuel Zelaya • In a message to supporters asking them to join him on his return to Honduras later today. Zelaya will be flying in with the leaders of two Central American countries, and Honduras has threatened to do everything in his power to prevent him from coming in. As tensions are running high, it may be a bad time for him to show up. “We think that a return to the country at the moment could provoke a bloodbath,” said Tegucigalpa Archbishop Cardinal Oscar Andres Rodriguez. The cardinal has asked the former president to stay away. • source

U.S.: Driver killed in a crash on Disney World’s Monorail system

  • He ran into a stationary train. Noone else was hurt. The crash took place around 2 a.m. when there was light traffic. One family was stuck in a train car after the crash and had to be released, but was otherwise unhurt. The monorail system is shut down for the moment. Mike Griffin, Disney’s vice president for public affairs, honored the driver: “Today we mourn the loss of our fellow cast member. Our hearts go out to his family and to those who have lost a friend and co-worker.” source
