Culture: Rihanna nude photos hit the Web. Hasn’t she suffered enough?

  • She was just starting to return to the public eye. Rihanna, who just had a personal nightmare in the form of a very public domestic violence saga featuring ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, apparently showed up on an image hosting Web site in a series of nude photos (which we will not link, by the way) and immediately trended on Twitter search. Sigh. First Carrie Prejean, then Rihanna. source

Offbeat: A bra retailer says they “boobed” on cup-size-based pricing

  • It’s true that our fantastic quality larger bras cost more money to make, and we felt it was right to reflect this in the prices we charged. Well, we were wrong.
  • British retailer Marks & Spencer • In an ad that ran in U.K. newspapers on Friday. The retailer was the subject of an online campaign to get them to change their variable pricing ways. Now only if we can convince Apple to heed the advice of this when it comes to online music. • source

Culture, Politics: Our quick two-second review of the new “Star Trek”

  • good The action was clearly well-paced. Abrams did a good job of keeping you on the edge of your seat. It was easy for non-fans to get into, while having winking cues for die-hards.
  • great Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, in particular, did justice to the original parts. Even Simon Pegg, who doesn’t physically resemble James Doohan, was well-cast as Scotty.
  • overall We expect “Star Trek” to be just as revered as “Iron Man” was last summer. It’s a fun movie that goes broad without losing its street cred. Good show, J.J. Abrams! source

Culture: Friend of the site: Check out Most Horrible Thing Ever

  • Killer concept. Scary videos. One of our favorite humorists, David Putney, has been hard at work on creating Most Horrible Thing Ever, a site cataloging some of the scary things he’s found on the Internet and on YouTube. On top of such videos as the Gymkata trailer and Carl Lewis singing about world peace, there’s lots of distinctly Putneyian humor – a unique natural resource that must be experienced. Plus, it’s got some of the same short-form style you dig reading here. Check it out! source
