Sports: Did Lance Armstrong delay his drug testing?

  • What happened? A drug tester went to get samples from the unretired Armstrong, but agreed to wait 20 minutes while he showered and while Armstrong’s assistant’s checked the tester’s background.
  • No evasion, he says Armstrong (whose blood, urine and hair samples came out clean, by the way), denies being evasive, saying he simply wasn’t sure of the identity of the tester. It raised eyebrows, though. source

U.S.: Honoring the Binghamton dead through citizenship

  • The shooting happened at an immigration center. Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, both New York Democrats, introduced legislation that would honor the victims of last week’s shooting in Binghamton, N.Y. by posthumously giving citizenship to those killed that didn’t have it. Many of the people shot came from fairly diverse places all over the world. The citizenship would be considered honorary and would not affect the status of relatives. source

U.S.: D.C.’s gay marriage bill could put Congress in a weird spot

  • Everyone would agree we have a tricky relationship with Congress, even when our allies are in power. But progress is made by moving forward, not standing still.
  • David Catania • D.C. City Council member, on a preliminary vote to recognize same-sex marriages performed elsewhere in the country. The council’s votes would need to get through Congress before they’re official, which will put a state issue in front of a legislature that has thus far avoided it. Catania, by the way, is openly gay. • source

Offbeat: Two things you might want to do on Easter, together at last

  • drinkin’ A bar in Little Rock, Ark. will host services at a local bar on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Beer might be part of the menu, but they need to check out their liquor license. (Someone say BYOB?)
  • prayin’ It’s Easter this Sunday. So all you Christians who go to church once a year, why not fight the urge to not go and perhaps get a little tipsy at the same time? Jesus died for your sins; toast him! source
