Where to start The band’s self-titled debut, on the fitting Slumberland Records, is the real twee-pop deal. Worth listening to in particular are the loud-to-lilting “Come Saturday,” and “Stay Alive,” with the most jangly guitars you’ve heard since Toad The Wet Sprocket was still popular. In six months, Belle and Sebastian fans are going to claim that they have a new favorite band. Just you wait. source

… here it comes, blazing back for another round! Rep. Roland Burris’ aides claim today that former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s brother had approached the former Illinois Attorney General about raising campaign money for the governor. Burris didn’t, he still got appointed to the senate anyway, and Rod got the boot. Of course, this does leave the matter of why Burris didn’t mention this a few weeks ago … source

What’s supposed to happen Morgan Tsvangirai was recently sworn in as prime minister of Zimbabwe, which should create a power-sharing arrangement between his Movement for Democratic Change and President Robert Mugabe’s African National Union-Patriotic Front. By the way, Mugabe’s reputation in the international community is quite poor. source

What happened already Who knows if this is a harbinger, but one of Tsvangirai’s closest allies, Roy Bennett, was arrested yesterday. The treasurer general of the Movement for Democratic Change (as well as the deputy agriculture minister-designate) was wanted in connection with an arms cache found in Mutare in 2006. He has been denied food. source
