World: Zimbabwe’s shared leadership gets off to a rocky start

  • What’s supposed to happen Morgan Tsvangirai was recently sworn in as prime minister of Zimbabwe, which should create a power-sharing arrangement between his Movement for Democratic Change and President Robert Mugabe’s African National Union-Patriotic Front. By the way, Mugabe’s reputation in the international community is quite poor.
  • What happened already Who knows if this is a harbinger, but one of Tsvangirai’s closest allies, Roy Bennett, was arrested yesterday. The treasurer general of the Movement for Democratic Change (as well as the deputy agriculture minister-designate) was wanted in connection with an arms cache found in Mutare in 2006. He has been denied food. source
