World: The current state of Tehran: Unease between military, protesters

  • After a long Saturday, things have (temporarily) quieted. On Saturday, we learned two things about the nature of the Iran protests: One, the government is no longer willing to accept peaceful dissent; and two, protesters are willing to risk their lives in the fight for the rights of the country’s people. Today, things have calmed down, but are expected to heat up again later in the day. Even if the protests calmed down after today, deep political wounds are now out in the open – something the Iranian government will struggle with easing. source
