For $69.99, you can get unlimited EVERYTHING. As many iPhone fans know, the main argument against using an iPhone is the carrier – AT&T’s plans are not only expensive, but they’re spotty and often arbitrarily leave iPhone users out of the loop. Sprint, which now has a killer phone of its own in the Palm Pre (and soon, the Palm Pixi), plans to offer an unlimited plan (Any Mobile, Anytime) which is cheaper than most of AT&T’s iphone plans, AND offers more bang for your buck. Now if only Palm can stop screwing up the marketing of their phones. source
See, Apple – is it really that hard to release an iPhone with a keyboard? Palm has your form factor AND a keyboard and still remains amazingly functional.

Your proposal that we agree that neither company will hire the other’s employees, regardless of the individual’s desires, is not only wrong, it is likely illegal.
Former Palm CEO Ed Colligan • Reportedly in a 2007 message between himself and Apple CEO Steve Jobs, where Jobs was suggesting a deal that would prevent the companies from poaching one another’s talent. At the time, Jobs was likely smarting from the loss of Jon Rubinstein, a former Apple exec who helped create the iPod, left for Palm, helped create the Pre, and then became Palm’s CEO. The exchange is sure to spark the ire of the Department of Justice. • source
Jon Rubinstein has a pretty golden touch. Hired at Apple during the company’s dark ages, he devised some of their best products as their hardware chief, including masterminding the iPod, which was a massive success. He retired in 2005 only to get courted by Palm two years later. The fruit of his labor? The Pre, which is off to a decent start. Now he’s the CEO. Go figure. source
This line of 12 in New York City was far more the exception than the rule – Sprint stores nationwide were hype-free. This ain’t an iPhone launch.

It’s coming. June 6. $300 (plus $100 mail-in rebate). To everyone who thought the Palm Pre would never see the light of day in the overtly public way which it deserves, next month proves to be Pre judgment day. Getting a release just a couple of days before the third-generation iPhone announcement, they can either steal Apple’s thunder entirely or look like an also-ran in the market. Either way, Bono wins. source
