World: Score! Taliban’s top military commander in Pakistan/U.S. custody

  • A top-secret mission nailed Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar. Baradar was captured as a result of a combined American/Pakistani intelligence mission, and he’s a big get. The New York Times says it’s the biggest in the entire eight-year Afghan War, and he’s second in command only to Mullah Muhammad Omar, Osama bin Laden’s close associate. Details are sketchy, but this sounds impressive. source

World: Osama bin Laden believes in climate change more than the GOP

  • Talk about climate change is not an ideological luxury but a reality. All of the industrialized countries, especially the big ones, bear responsibility for the global warming crisis.
  • “Osama bin Laden” • As quoted in a new audiotape released by Al Jazeera. Now, before you conclude that Osama’s just offering up crazy talk, bin Laden also suggests that all global economies stop relying on the dollar as a benchmark. He also offered up this nugget of knowledge bound to get people talking: “Noam Chomsky was correct when he compared the U.S. policies to those of the Mafia.” See? Totally sane. source

U.S., World: Bin Laden audiotape: Plane attacks a communication device

  • The message sent to you with the attempt by the hero Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is a confirmation of our previous message conveyed by the heroes of September 11. If it was possible to carry our messages to you by words, we wouldn’t have carried them to you by planes.
  • “Osama bin Laden” • In an audio-taped message to President Obama claiming responsibility for the Dec. 25 attempt to blow up a plane in Detroit. While the U.S. can’t confirm it’s the leader, Al Jazeera put it on the air anyway. Bin Laden said that the attacks would continue “as U.S. support for Israel continues.” source

U.S., World: FBI fail: Feds compare Bin Laden to a Spanish politician

Spanish politician Gaspar Llamazares, right, is perhaps a bit ticked that someone thought to use his mugshot to update Osama Bin Laden’s mug. source

U.S., World: Report: The Bush administration let Osama Bin Laden get away

  • He was within grasp in 2001, but reinforcements weren’t sent. First off, let’s state the obvious: We’d still have terrorism troubles if Bin Laden were captured – though they might be less focused. However, a Senate report says that the U.S. was close to catching him in Afghanistan, only to drop the ball by leaning on air strikes instead of putting people on the ground. Donald Rumsfeld is specifically blamed for his lack of action. source

World: Osama bin Laden released a new message. Really? He’s still alive?

  • The time has come for you to liberate yourselves from fear and the ideological terrorism of neoconservatives and the Israeli lobby. The reason for our dispute with you is your support for your ally Israel, occupying our land in Palestine.
  • “Osama bin Laden” • In a new message from “the leader.” The message had “him” saying that Israel was the crux of the conflict between al-Qaeda and the U.S. “He” went further, saying that there was no real policy shift under Obama due to lobbyists. We hope “he” gets to see the outside of a cave every once in a while. • source

World: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed looks less disheveled in this photo

In 2003, the 9/11 mastermind looked like this. In 2009, we replaced him with an Osama bin Laden lookalike. See if you can tell the difference. source

U.S., World: Osama bin Laden does what he does best: Fearmongers

  • Obama and his administration have planted seeds for hatred and revenge against America.
  • Osama bin Laden • In an audiotape aired Wednesday by Al Jazeera that was designed to undercut the speech Obama plans to make to the Muslim world in Egypt. Bin Laden (or whoever is playing him on the tape) has good reason to come out and criticize Obama now – his open-arms diplomacy represents a threat to terrorist organizations in the Middle East. • source

Offbeat: A dream job applicant who has no shot at the job

  • I enjoy the outdoors and sandy areas. I’ve got experience with videos, delegating tasks and experience with large scale event coordination. My interests include arts and craft and renovating. I’m outgoing and fun-loving.
