Tech: Protip: Don’t browse YouPorn if you wanna keep your privacy

  • 485 major sites exploit a privacy-exploiting browser hack source
  • » Wait, what about YouPorn?: See, YouPorn, one of the most popular sites on the Internet that nobody ever talks about going to, is the most-notable user of this particular hack, which scrapes your history using Javascript to see if you’re going to other sites, and even hijacks it. And don’t think because you don’t watch porn that you’re not getting traced – news sites, sports sites and many other safe-for-work sites also use the scary technique. (Update: In an earlier version, we linked to a site which appears to have been down much of the day. Sorry ’bout that.)

Tech: Don’t Mouseover! Twitter nailed by nasty security exploit

  • Protip: Avoid using the Web client for Twitter for a little while. A big bug has managed to bring Twitter to its knees using the onMouseOver Javascript function, meaning it works by simply tapping your mouse over it by accident. Twitter is on the case and the exploit should be patched soon. Still, though. … Yikes. source

About, Tech: New features: We’d like to welcome Apture to the fold.

  • This program was seemingly designed for ShortFormBlog. As we’re sure you know, our goal is to keep information simple and short for you guys, while allowing you to better find information from other sources. Which is why we’re very excited about the prospect of using Apture. Apture uses Javascript to create rich extra layers of content (from sources we like, such as Wikipedia and YouTube) above the main site. Among initial users include The New York Times and The Washington Post. What do you guys think? Comment here. source

Tech: A 17-year-old was behind the StalkDaily Twitter hack

  • I did this out of boredom, to be honest. I usually like to find vulnerabilities within websites and try not to cause too much damage, but start a worm or something to give the developers an insight on the problem and while doing so, promoting myself or my website.
  • Mikeyy Mooney • Who claims he basically did it for purposes of self-promotion, shooting himself in his 17-year-old foot. Good job, jerk. We hate you and your cruddy Web site. • source
