  • The Atlantic is under digital attack. Between a tweet and a two-sentence post on Andrew Sullivan’s always-interesting blog, we know that some nefarious group is apparently keeping the smart words of the blogging guru off the Interweb via a Denial of Service attack. Since it’s hard to get into, here’s the post recreated: “The Atlantic is struggling to keep the site up despite what seems to be a digital attack. Please be persistent in trying to reload.” Seriously, what did Andrew Sullivan ever do to you? source

  • The New York Post sez yes. The Post, in their usual overwrought style, claimed that Google was so surprised that Bing was actually good that co-founder Sergey Brin is actually taking a desperate hands-on approach to making improvements to the engine. Yeah. Sure. source

Tech, World: Why did #cnnfail trend last night? Because CNN buried Iran.

  • While Twitter, Flickr, YouTube and other social media sites are both a source of unfiltered information and a venue for public discussion, we still look to CNN, the BBC and their ilk to add context and meaning to this flood of data. And when they fail us, we demand more of them.
  • Mashable blogger Pete Cashmore • Reading the lay of the land for social networking – CNN played back their coverage of Iran and Twitter, which has championed CNN in the past (unless you’re Ashton Kutcher), turned their backs on them. Just because everyone can post news doesn’t mean we don’t want that news edited. Which is why CNN is (and heck, we are) useful as resources. Keep that in mind kids. • source

Tech: Global warming meets its match in the form of white paint

It's a simple solution to an annoying problem. Much like with cars, dark colors on houses tend to take in more light, requiring more energy to cool down. Now, just imagine millions of houses with white roofs reflecting light back to the sun. Sound crazy? Well, it just might work. "This is something very simple that we can do immediately," says Energy Secretary Steven Chu. Hopefully, nobody spills anything on those roofs. source
