It is premature at this stage to discuss the cause of the sinking. It has not been determined whether this incident is related to North Korea.
South Korean presidential spokeswoman Kim Eun-hye • Regarding the country’s ship that sank, leaving at least 46 sailors missing. The early reports were bad enough to make Wall Street freak out, but right now, they’re backing off, with the country’s defense ministry saying “an unidentified reason caused a hole in the ship.” Well, that’s nice and vague. source
The ship is sinking. This could be bad. The ship, located near the island of Baengnyeong, may possibly have been struck by a torpedo. Many sailors are feared dead and a rescue mission has already begun. South Korea and North Korea, by the way, are technically still in a state of war. Oh, and North Korea just yesterday threatened to use nuclear weapons. source
South Korean sites are being affected, too. The Asian country’s National Intelligence Service has identified 26 Web sites that appear to be affected by “malicious programs,” including the White House’s Web site. The hackers appear to be trying to nail them using denial of service attacks. This sort of Web-based digital attack for political reasons isn’t new: A similar attack in Estonia happened two years ago. source
The test-range missile is the sixth this week. You got to hand it to North Korea. When they want to get your attention, they’re willing to go all out. Despite much complaining by the international community, the country continues to blow stuff up. South Korea’s ready for war. Yesterday, the U.S. decided to put the country on its second-highest alert level. Can we just be optimistic and believe they’re just trying to kill off their supplies? source

The former president held a rep for being a clean leader, but was linked to a corruption scandal that had taken down some of his aides. He then started saying things such as “You should now discard me,” which should have been giant flying red flags in retrospect. source
