Politics: Heckuva job: Senate fails to extend unemployment benefits

  • God forbid we actually think ahead … working together and coming up with a common solution. It makes no sense to me.
  • Sen. Scott Brown • Arguing that the Senate missed a golden opportunity to work on an unemployment extension, instead working on other things while a bipartisan opportunity passed them by. Instead, a bill to extend unemployment for some by an entire year was introduced Monday night, which made it hard to draw consensus support, especially since the benefits weren’t paid for. “I’m not sure why it took so long to get to his point while we spent seven days on food safety,” Brown said. “I’m very, very curious to see what’s next.” source

Tech: Microsoft Wind-woes: Steve Ballmer feeling heat over the iPad

  • They’ve sold certainly more than I’d like them to have sold.
  • Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer • In the process of eating crow about the success of the iPad. You know, that device that Sen. Scott Brown held up yesterday when ripping into the hapless Arlington Cemetery staff who were unable to prevent thousands of graves from getting mixed up. Anyway … Microsoft has a decade of experience in the tablet business and now is in the unenviable position of playing catch-up. If this plot sounds familiar, it’s because it’s the exact same plot as their mobile phone platform. source

Politics: Rachel Maddow isn’t running for the Massachusetts Senate, hosers

However, as this Boston Globe full-page ad notes, she’s in fact not running for Senate. Julius may be, though, if his residency checks out. He’s on the Lyndon Larouche ticket. source

Politics: Here’s what that baby-killer Scott Brown said about the jobs bill

  • It is the first step in creating jobs, not only for the people of Massachusetts but for the people of the country.
  • Sen. Scott Brown • Regarding the jobs bill, which passed a test vote 62-30 with bipartisan support, including a vote from Brown himself. Twitter conservatives are currently having a fit because the bipartisan turn seems to have been exactly the opposite of what they were expecting from Brown, who is moderate. Shall we stone him now or stone him later? source
