Sports: St. Louis Rams bidders rushing to get away from Rush Limbaugh

  • It has become clear that his involvement in our group has become a complication and a distraction to our intentions; endangering our bid to keep the team in St. Louis.
  • St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts • On the decision to dump the talk show host from his group bidding on the future of the St. Louis Rams. The criticism of the host’s possible ownership of an NFL franchise reached a fever pitch earlier this week, to the point where commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the situation. The barking points revolved around remarks he’s made about Donovan McNabb, Michael Vick and black players in general that seemed racist to many. For Checketts’ part, he says Limbaugh was only a minor partner. • source

Politics, Sports: Rush Limbaugh owning the St. Louis Rams: It’s a racial thing

  • I don’t want anything to do with a team that he has any part of. He can do whatever he wants, it is a free country. But if it goes through, I can tell you where I am not going to play.
  • New York Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka • Explaining why he wouldn’t play for Rush Limbaugh as a St. Louis Ram, specifically saying his comments about white kids “getting beat up on the bus while black kids are chanting ‘right on'” are racist. Limbaugh is one of the investors trying to buy the team, which quickly went from one of the NFL’s best teams to one of its worst. 24 of the NFL’s 32 teams need to approve the still-in-early-stages bid if it goes through, so Limbaugh better hope that he has a lot of friends among the 32 owners. • source

Politics, U.S.: Example No. 2 of GOP Obama fury: Nazi comparisons

Rush Limbaugh, among others, have made this logo comparison. We get it. You don’t like it. But can we keep the level of discourse a little higher than this? source

Politics, U.S.: Ah Rush, saying such soothing words about Sonia Sotomayor

  • Do I want her to fail? Yeah. Do I want her to fail to get on the court? Yes. She’d be a disaster on the court. Do I still want to Obama to fail as president? Yeah. … He’s going to fail anyway, but the sooner the better here so that as little damage can be done to the country.
  • Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh • Stuck between a rock and a hard place in criticism of Obama’s supreme court justice pick Sonia Sotomayor, who he called a “reverse racist.” The challenge that the GOP faces is that Hispanics make up a good portion of their base currently, and if they’re not careful, they could alienate them with their attacks. But Rush doesn’t care. Rush is Rush. • source

Politics: Colin Powell fights back against Cheney, Limbaugh criticism

  • I would like to point out that in the course of my 50 years of voting for presidents, I have voted for the person I thought was best qualified at that time to lead the nation. Last year, I thought it was President Barack Obama. For the previous 20 years, I voted solidly for Republican candidates.
  • Colin Powell • Responding to the verbal shouting match between him, former Vice President Dick Cheney and everyone’s favorite loudmouth, Rush Limbaugh. Powell goes further to say that the party needs to be more inclusive if it wants to find its way – which goes against many things Cheney and Limbaugh are arguing for, BTW. • source

Politics, U.S.: Wanda Sykes: The White House didn’t dig your edginess

  • Robert Gibbs, the White House Press Secretary we dig, criticized her, saying some topics “are better left for serious reflection rather than comedy.” source

Politics, U.S.: Dick Cheney once again gets himself in the GOP’s chatter

  • If I had to choose in terms of being a Republican, I’d go with Rush Limbaugh. My take on it was Colin had already left the party. I didn’t know he was still a Republican.
  • Dick Cheney • Discussing the verbal to-do between Colin Powell and Rush Limbaugh. Cheney and Powell have worked closely together over the years but have become more estranged since the first George W. Bush administration, a point accented by Powell’s support of Obama in the last election. Cheney’s had a recent history of this, by the way. • source

Politics, U.S.: Key line from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner

  • I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker but he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight. He needs a good waterboarding – that’s what he needs.
  • Wanda Sykes • Who managed to bring back some of the edge of Stephen Colbert’s routine a couple of years ago to the White House Correspondent’s Dinner. She took jabs at everyone, Obama included. No offense to Rush Limbaugh, but we’d rather hear rips on him than see awful Bush impersonators. • source

Politics: Rush Limbaugh throws monkey poo at Colin Powell. RUSH MAD!

  • What Colin Powell needs to do is close the loop and become a Democrat instead of claiming to be a Republican interested in reforming the Republican Party.
  • Rush Limbaugh • Complaining about Powell’s comment that the Republican party is in deep trouble, and would be better off without the radio-show loudmouth. Limbaugh also disliked Powell’s support of Obama. • source

Politics, U.S.: It’s been a while since Bobby Jindal’s come up. Here’s an update.

  • My answer to the question is very simple: ‘Do you want the president to fail?’ It depends on what he is trying to do.
  • Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal • Talking to members of his party last night about whether Rush Limbaugh’s stance on Barack Obama is worthy of criticism. Jindal, post-response, is still dipping his feet into the possibility of a presidential run. • source
