U.S.: Alabama professor may have another murder to answer for

  • The release of Ms. Bishop did not sit well with the police officers, and I can assure you that this would not happen in this day and age.
  • Braintree, Mass. chief of police Paul Frazier • Regarding Alabama professor Amy Bishop, who reportedly killed three professors on Friday, on a cold case involving Bishop’s brother. In 1986, Seth Bishop was killed during an argument at their home in Braintree. Police are considering re-opening that 24-year-old case as a result of the most recent murders. Politics: The GOP isn’t very creative with its Illinois senate tactics

  • This is not Obama’s seat, it’s the people’s seat!
  • Republican Illinois Congressman Mark Kirk • Regarding Obama’s old Senate seat in Illinois, which he’s likely to win the primary for today. … Anyway, back up. This line is a total rip-off of Scott Brown’s effective campaign line during the Massachusetts Senate campaign. Obama held this seat for one term. A term he didn’t even finish because he was elected president. Ted Kennedy held his seat for two generations. How is this the same thing? Seriously, this line is beyond stupid. Obama didn’t even get the seat warm! source

U.S.: Obama’s got the nuclear option for health care planned

  • If Scott Brown wins tomorrow, the Senate bill hits the House floor. Facing a possibly embarrassing loss for the Democratic party in Massachusetts tomorrow, President Obama has a pretty good solution in mind for the health care bill that he’s long fought for. The Senate bill – which has already passed – will get sent, with no changes, to the House. Then it gets voted on. And if it passes, this massive cluster#(&@ of a bill will finally get signed by Obama. A little sneaky, but it technically works – and fast! Well, as long as everybody goes along with the plan. source

U.S.: Today, Democrats are scrambling to save Ted Kennedy’s old seat

  • Teddy always told me when you’re in a fight, there’s nobody like organized labor. You’re about the future. You’re about moving this country forward. You always have been. We can’t go backwards now.
  • Vicki Kennedy • Stumping for state Attorney General Martha Coakley Saturday morning at the Dorchester headquarters of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Coakley’s in great danger of losing the race for Ted Kennedy’s old seat to Republican upstart Scott Brown. If Brown wins on Tuesday, the Democrats lose their essential 60th vote. This is a big deal for the left. source
