Politics: Never too early: Here’s the first round of 2012 presidency news

  • obvious Sarah Palin, whose last two years have essentially been a dry run for the presidency, says she could possibly beat Obama in 2012.
  • spiffy In recent days, there’s been talk of Michael Bloomberg and MSNBC host Joe Scarborough running together on a moderate ticket.
  • vain In recent weeks, Donald Trump has been making a stink about running in 2012, too. Thing is, he brings this up every presidential cycle.

Culture: More heartwarming celebrity news: Bret Michaels hired by Trump

  • Lately it seems like me just standing up is risking my life.
  • “Celebrity Apprentice” winner Bret Michaels • In response to a question posed by Donald Trump: “Are you risking your life being here? This is a lot of pressure.” Michaels not only stood up to the pressure but he won the entire thing. He flew from New York to Los Angeles despite the advice of doctors. But it was worth it. source

Culture: Scorned woman or not, Jesse James has one rich guy in his corner

  • In terms of television, it probably helps him. … Whether you like Jesse or not, he’s now a much hotter commodity than before this happened. And his audience — they love him.
  • Donald Trump • Regarding the crazy marital situation between Jesse James and Sandra Bullock, one that fell apart due to James’ Tiger Woods-like infidelity. While he notes the West Coast Choppers mogul probably won’t be getting any endorsements any time soon, he seems fairly confident that his former “Celebrity Apprentice” contestant (who finished third on the show) will bounce back. source

Culture: Miss California firing: Was it politics or personnel issues?

  • Donald Trump claims she simply wasn’t doing her job. “I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA organization, and I gave her the opportunity to do so,” he said.
  • Carrie Prejean claims it was political. “What’s behind this, I think, is a political debate. … From day one they wanted me out, and they got what they wanted,” she said. Her stance on gay marriage earned her 15 seconds of fame.

Culture: Donald Trump: Eh, we’ll let Carrie Prejean keep her crown

  • We have determined the the pictures taken are fine.
  • Donald Trump • Surprisingly disappointing us by not stripping Miss California Carrie Prejean of her crown. Thanks, Donald. You suck. We want Prejean to go away like now. • source

Culture: We hate Carrie Prejean. Will they please take away her crown?

  • Carrie’s fate rests in the hands of Donald Trump. Despite the fact that Trump is famous for firing people, he’s shown a little bit of compassion for pageant winners. Miss California Carrie Prejean, however, is a mess unto herself, the perfect combination of liar, activist and PR nightmare that could be enough to convince the Donald to get rid of her. Fortunately, Tami Farrell, the Miss California runner-up, has been doing most of Prejean’s job already since Prejean’s been too busy fighting gay marriage. source

Biz: Donald Trump: We’re in a depression. He says so.

  • Let’s face it, Larry, we are in a depression. If they didn’t do the bailout, you would be in depression No. 2 and maybe just as big as depression No. 1, so they really had to do something.
  • Donald Trump • talking to Larry King about the economy and the banks. Trump says that the executive salary caps are necessary and that the big problem is that banks aren’t loaning out their bailout money and instead are using it for other things. • source
