Biz, U.S.: This car chase is a great metaphor for GM’s bankruptcy emergence

  • Imagine the car Mark Hamill is driving is GM. Imagine the cloud of bankruptcy is the black car. And imagine Annie Potts as the government, yawing its way through the whole emergence from bankruptcy. And keep in mind that this 1978 movie is called “Corvette Summer.” And that this morning, GM finally got rid of the jerk tailing them and got Annie Potts home. source

Offbeat: Shepard Smith: Favorite car chase play-by-play dude EVAH!

  • “Caravan 5, spike strips nothing.” We have huge admiration for Shepard Smith, the one guy on Fox News who’s unafraid to tell it like it is. But man, we wonder to ourselves sometimes whether he should be calling baseball games instead of car chases. Because he’s so hilarious with his phrasing that you just want to give Shep a high-five. source

  • This was the car chase to end all car chases. This guy had all the moves to outrun the police – until he got T-boned by a truck. OUCH! source

U.S.: This car chase is a real kick in the head for police

  • There are three troubling highlights to this video. At 0:52, the suspect surrenders. At 0:55, a cop kicks the suspect in the head for no reason. At 1:27, two cops give each other high-fives. Hm. source
