World: In British Columbia, a mom can sue grown children for parental support

  • Why does the guy on the right look so pissed off? A number of reasons, but the big one is that his own mom is suing him for parental support. And he has good reason to be angry. See, his mom abandoned him when he was 15. But he’s been in a protracted legal battle with her for the last 11 years. She wants $750 (in Canadian dollars) a month from each of her four children. None claim to have had a particularly good childhood. We hope this guy wins. No mother should be able to do that to her kids. (Hat tip Something Awful Forums) source

Culture: Wanted VH1 reality show contestant Ryan Jenkins found dead

  • He was found in Canada. The weirdest, creepiest story of the week, the apparent murder of model Jasmine Fiore by a VH1 reality show contestant, ended with yet another dark turn, as Ryan Jenkins was found dead in an apparent suicide. He was found dead in a motel in Hope, British Columbia, Canada. According to RCMP Sgt. Duncan Pound, “The hotel staff had gone in to check on him… it would be speculation to say how long he had been in there.” So there you go. Sick story comes to a sick end. source

Offbeat, Tech: Being on disability ≠ being on Facebook all day

  • A guy in British Columbia is getting his PC checked for FB usage. The guy, Brendon Bishop, is asking for permanent disability payments, claiming that a 2005 car crash made him too fatigued to work. But a ton of wall posts and pokes and Scrabulous games apparently claim otherwise, as the judge in his trial agreed to a defense motion asking for a scan of his social-networking usage. Someone’s totally getting defriended. source
