Three upcoming films on their slate are sequels. Like “Monsters, Inc.”? How about “Toy Story”? Did you tolerate “Cars,” or at least have kids with a bunch of “Cars” toys? Well, guess what you’re going to get over the next few years from Pixar? That’s right. Retreads of films Pixar did a long time ago. While they aren’t giving up on fresh films (check out 2011’s anticipated “The Bear And The Bow”), it’s disheartening because they’re one of the few Hollywood studios that doesn’t have to lean so heavily on franchises. Say it ain’t so, guys. source
Ahhhh, we needed a Zack attack. There are many awesome things about this video, but the best part was that Mark-Paul Gosselaar came up with the freaking idea himself. Beautiful. We hope the “Saved by the Bell” reunion lives up to the hype.source
Word on the street is that Bender, Leela, Fry, Zoidberg and the rest of the crew will be headed back to Comedy Central for a 13-episode run. To celebrate, here’s some Hypnotoad. We’ll be back after the hypnosis wears off.source
Despite saving “Chuck,” NBC weren’t seen as saints in terms of canceling shows, as Emmy-winner “My Name is Earl” got canned due to diminishing returns. source
However, there may be hope! TBS, which plans to carry repeats of “Earl,” is in early talks to take on the show, although with a drastically-reduced budget. source
In a classic TV moment, Bret Michaels was injured by the Tony Awards. OK, we don’t like following the ins and outs of theatre’s biggest night, nor do we think Poison has a place on any stage – not even the Tony Awards. So it was great to watch how a set piece came crashing down on Bret Michaels, breaking his nose and cutting his lip. Which, according to the YouTube video, was way less than he should’ve gotten from that. source
I’m on a high. I never thought I’d be on Sesame Street with Elmo and Big Bird.
First Lady Michelle Obama • Who noted that “it’s probably the best thing I’ve done so far in the White House.” Some would say that this is incredibly shallow, but think about it – this show (beyond its marketing juggernaut status) has been one of the greatest icons of American education and entertainment since it first hit the airwaves 40 years ago. And, as kids of that era, both Barack and Michelle were among the first beneficiaries of the show. Cookie Monster is much deeper than he looks. • source
No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. You’re reading Stephen Colbert. And for that I apologize. The last thing I want is to contribute to the corrosive influence of the print media. I prefer to yell my opinions at you in person.
Stephen Colbert • In his letter from the editor, titled “Why I Took This Crummy Job.” Colbert guest-edited this week’s issue of the magazine – the first guest editor in the magazine’s history. He didn’t just sit around and take the credit. As he puts it, he “set the editorial agenda, assigned stories and yelled at Peter Parker to get me more photos of that web-slinging vigilante, Spider-Man.” We love this country. Thanks Stephen! • source
His family is very upset about the photos. Body photos of Carradine, who might’ve died in a disturbing, accidental way, were apparently shown in a Thai newspaper. His family, clearly upset, has threatened to sue. Beyond the photos, Carradine’s family asked for assistance from the FBI in the case. Lawyer Mark Geragos, who works for David’s brother Keith, explains: “All we really know is not much more than what the public knows, and that’s disturbing.” source
