U.S.: A person of interest has been identified in the Yale murder case

  • I saw them leaving this weekend with travel bags like they were in a hurry. I thought they were going on vacation.
  • A neighbor of “person of interest” Raymond Clark III • On seeing their neighbor depart frantically (with fiance Jennifer Hromadka) on Sunday, right around the time Annie Le’s body was found. Clark, an animal lab tech in the same lab where Le works, was identified as a person of interest in the case. Neither he, his sister, brother-in-law or fiance showed up for work on the Yale campus this week. At the lab where Clark works, they do a lot of gruesome animal testing. • source

U.S.: Protip: If you’re on death row, hide your veins really well

  • Romell Broom’s execution was delayed because they couldn’t find a vein. Of all the bizarre reasons to avoid an execution, Broom’s may be the most bizarre. Broom, convicted for the 1984 rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl, was to be executed today in Ohio, but could not be because they could not find a vein after looking for two hours. Governor Ted Strickland then gave him a one-week reprieve, during which time, those veins better come out. source

U.S.: The smear campaign against ACORN: Lawsuits and losses

  • Breitbart’s big splash The campaign against ACORN was first posted by BigGovernment.com, which just launched and made a huge initial splash with the video. The site is run by Andrew Breitbart, who’s probably best known as the other guy working on Drudge Report.
  • ACORN hit – hard As a result of the faked prostitution video, the Senate voted yesterday to deny funding for housing and community grants. The vote went 83-7, which is pretty much a death sentence for the organization. All because someone wanted to be Borat.
  • A lawsuit’s comingAnd for what it’s worth, James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles targeted the organization. Giles says she “saw the ACORN Housing location in Baltimore as a target — the den of a giant corrupt lion.” ACORN plans to sue both Fox News and BigGovernment.com. source

Politics: Michael Moore: Newspapers sided with the GOP at their own peril (?!)

  • These newspapers slit their own throats by siding with the group of politicians – I mean, it would be like General Motors funding candidates who promised to get rid of Driver Education.
  • Michael Moore • Discussing the fate of the American newspaper. To further emphasize his point, he says that “we live in a nation of 40 million functional illiterates,” and this was caused by cuts in education that Republican leadership led to. While we don’t think that point is particularly sound, we’ll get behind this one regarding capitalism: “Same theory of General Motors that I watched twenty years ago. How can we get rid of half the employees but still put out the same number of cars? We’ll just make everybody work twice as hard and we’ll save money doing that. And that’s what happened to our newspapers.” • source
