  • Daniel James Murray • According to a criminal complaint filed by Zion’s First National Bank, where he made threats to make sure he could, lacking an ID, take out part of the $25,000 he deposited. “Not to be disrespectful,” the Anton Chigurh wannabe apparently said, “but if I don’t get this money, someone is going to die.” He then made threats to the president, saying he is on a “mission to kill” Obama. Biz, U.S.: Currently on Obama’s plate: Financial industry regulation

  • How do we make sure this never happens again? Re-invent FDIC? Kill the Office of Thrift Supervision? Throw out the rule book? The Obama administration is considering all sorts of MacGyver-like techniques to prevent future financial industry screw-ups. Don’t expect them to combine a bunch of organizations together like a puzzle, though. Obama doesn’t think he’ll get enough political support for that, and even some of his closest colleagues in Congress think it’s a bad idea. source

  • As President Obama prepares to wing into Manhattan’s theater district on Air Force One to take in a Broadway show, GM is preparing to file bankruptcy and families across America continue to struggle to pay their bills.
  • RNC spokeswoman Gail Gitcho • On the president’s choice to take a night off from his job and go out on a date with his wife Michelle in New York City. We think her argument that Obama’s taking the night off from one of the hardest white-collar jobs you’ll find is overblown (especially since Bush set a high mark for vacation days), but her side argument that Obama shouldn’t be spending taxpayer money on this is spot-on. Obama is taking the smaller plane, but it still costs lots of money to run it. • source
