I am dismayed by the allegations of some member states, which have been fed to the media, that information has been withheld from the Board. These allegations are politically motivated and totally baseless.
International Atomic Energy Agency leader Mohamed ElBaradei • On allegations that the group is hiding information on Iran’s nuclear prowess. ElBaradei says the situation is something of a “stalemate” between the group and Iran. Israel in particular has been strongly criticizing the IAEA for hiding information. • source
No matter how hard the U.S.-led hostile forces may try all sorts of isolation and blockade, the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea), a proud nuclear power, will not flinch from them.
North Korea • Which said it would weaponize its plutonium and enrich uranium in response to sanctions that were put on them by the rest of the world. Because that’s gonna help matters. • source
*forehead slap* Great job, federal government. The U.S. revealed in a newsletter yesterday that somebody messed up and released a 266-page document LOADED with information about civilian nuclear holdings as well as maps of where we keep all of the fuel for our nuclear weapons. The document was marked “highly confidential,” which sounds scary. Some experts claim the leak isn’t THAT big a deal, but it’s not the first data screwup while Obama’s been in office. source
The world is not very happy about this, by the way. The test happened yesterday evening in an underground explosion, causing an eruption of both the ground and public sentiment against Kim Jong Il. And the U.S. is PISSED. “North Korea is directly and recklessly challenging the international community,” said The White House after the attacks. “The danger posed by North Korea’s threatening activities warrants action by the international community.” Next time you wanna nuke something, Kim Jong Il, mind using the microwave instead? Much easier to clean up. source
