I’m disappointed that NBC no longer has the time periods available to support the kind of critically-acclaimed series that was for so many years, a hallmark of their success.
“Southland” executive producer John Wells • On the cancellation of his show before a single episode of its second season had aired. Wells, who also produced “ER,” was screwed over by Jay Leno’s monopoly on most of the the good drama time slots. NBC may have just done permanent damage to its reputation with the Jay Leno experiment. • source
[IOC members] don’t hate America, they hate the USOC, and with good reason. Congress doesn’t need to do any new reform. The USOC just needs new leadership.
NBC’s Dick Ebersol • Describing why Chicago lost in the vote to get the 2016 Olympics. Ebersol knows – he runs the network’s Olympic operation, and they’re the largest Olympic rights-holder. His argument? The USOC is a little too greedy for their own good. The USOC gets a lot of sponsorship and television money, and they made things worse by trying to get their own TV deal. Too bad Obama didn’t know that, because he made a fool of himself on the world stage trying to help those guys. • source
It’s an unexpected consequence of the 10 p.m. block. Jay Leno may have had an easy time getting guests when he was on at 11:35 EST, but at 10, it’s a different story. “Yes, there was a little pressure, because as you know you are now on prime time and I’m on a different network,” said Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who became the first CBS star to show up on Leno’s show Tuesday night. In other news, the reviews aren’t getting more positive. source
Avoiding ACORN While admitting that what he saw on the prostitution video was distasteful on ABC’s “This Week,” we’ve never seen Obama so quick to avoid answering a question, ever.

On health care’s tone Why is the health care debate so vitriolic? On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Obama attacks the 24-hour news cycle, saying that controversy the media’s driving factor.

No Illegal Immigrants On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Obama says illegal immigration is an enforcement issue – one easily solved by verification. There’s a nice rip on the GOP at the end.
At the beginning it was a tough chicken and egg situation. Where I was calling and saying ‘Hi it’s Greg Grunberg, star of NBC’s Heroes, can I talk to the head of marketing please,’ and I would get them on the phone.
Greg Grunberg • On his pretty solid side career producing the Yowza iPhone app, a GPS-aware coupon-referring program that has become a hit. He claims that he’s always been a bit of an entrepreneur and that it’s a solid backup plan just in case he gets killed off on “Heroes” someday. (Not that he should have a problem with that, because his character can read people’s thoughts.) • source
