NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg isn’t on board anymore. Months after planning to have the trial for 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (a.k.a. Mr. Bedhead) in Manhattan, local pressure is causing the Obama administration to reconsider its plan. “Conversations have occurred within the administration to discuss contingency options should the possibility of a trial in Lower Manhattan be foreclosed upon by Congress or locally,” said one official under an anonymous cloak. Many New York politicians have criticized the idea. source
First Plaxico, now the rap star. Not cool. Thanks in part to New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, the state has some of the strictest laws on the books when it comes to gun possession. Plaxico Burress at least shot off his gun before he got a two-year jail sentence for gun possession. Unfortunately for Lil Wayne, though, he was nicked with “attempted gun possession” and will face as much as a year. As a non-resident of the state, he was unaware of the law, but simply being unaware of the law is not a good enough reason. Not that we’re suggesting he should’ve been in possession of the gun, but jail time for this is unbelievable. For shame, New York state. source
Reporter Azi Paybarah of the New York Observer dared to ask a question about the improving economy which seemed to undercut Bloomberg’s reasoning for running for a third term. It was an honest question. source
Bloomberg responded harshly, telling him, “When you have a serious question about the economy, I’d be happy to answer it.” He then ended the news conference by calling Paybarah a disgrace. LOL. source
