Politics: How big was the crowd at the Rally To Restore Sanity, anyway?

Comedy Central estimated 250,000, which would be bigger than many estimates (but not the official estimate) of the Glenn Beck rally. Either way, it was freaking massive. source

Politics: Max Headroom: Epic Glenn Beck rally post-mortem edition

  • Not our next president Beck was asked by Chris Wallace this morning if he would possibly consider a Beck/Palin presidential ticket after the huge success of yesterday’s event. He called himself “unelectable.” Understandably.

  • most over-the-top chatterOn “Reliable Sources” today, Howard Kurtz took his boy Bill Press to task for comparing the Beck rally to “granting al-Qaeda permission to hold a rally at Ground Zero.” Really?! Oh boy.

  • View from the MetroOne enterprising DC blogger, Carlos in DC, did a lot of his own coverage of the rally, and most of it is worth reading. The highlight for us is this clip which shows the glut of people from another angle.

Politics: “Restoring Honor” rally: No signs or you’ll get accosted

  • Counter-protesters, take note. While Beck has pushed hard to not make the rally a rage-fueled event, a couple moments have cropped up. One counter-protester, Ben Thielen, carried a sign that said, “It’s because of the 1st Amendment that Glenn Beck can spew his filth on the steps.” After showing off the sign, he was accosted by one woman, who started yelling “No signs!” at him and left him with some (probably overstated) red marks. “She just came up to me and said, ‘No signs!’ and clawed me like a wild animal,” he said. Meanwhile, a bunch of “Don’t tread on me” flags were waved around. source
