Corey Haim’s death is yet another tragedy linked to the growing problem of prescription-drug abuse. This problem is increasingly linked to criminal organizations, like the illegal and massive prescription-drug ring under investigation.
California Attorney General (and gubernatorial candidate) Jerry Brown • Regarding the cause of Haim’s death. Despite the autopsy having left evidence of this unconnected as of yet, an unauthorized prescription note in Haim’s name was found during an unrelated investigation on prescription drug fraud – meaning, even if it wasn’t the cause (still possible), he was illegally getting his vicodin and other drugs with forged doctor’s notes. Is it us, or is Jerry Brown trying to win political points with this quote? source

He had reportedly been drug-free for 11 years. The NYC Medical Examiner’s office is reporting that the cause of Adam Goldstein’s death is currently unclear. Bottles of prescription medications and drug-smoking paraphernalia were found near the DJ’s body. A painful, tough sort of irony: Goldstein was to be one of the stars of “Gone Too Far,” a drug-abuse intervention show on MTV. No word on whether the show will still air. source

Our evil first thought: “Guess that explains the shouting.” Medical reports on the death of Billy Mays confirm that he used cocaine just days before his death. Mays died from heart disease, but the onset of it was brought in part on by cocaine usage. The family, who did not know of any cocaine usage, dismissed the report and considered having someone independent do the autopsy. Either way, this was a bizarre, unexpected turn of events for the pitchman. source

Jesse Jackson, speaking for the family, says they want another one. Jesse (no relation) has been in close contact with the family and visited them yesterday. “It’s abnormal,” he said. “We don’t know what happened. Was he injected and with what? All reasonable doubt should be addressed.” Michael, of course, was rumored to be addicted to prescription medications. His body has been released to the family, but there’s no word on whether a second autopsy has taken place yet. source

Another 4-to-6 weeks (at least) of lack of clarity. The autopsy of Michael Jackson, who was reported to have been injected with narcotic painkillers shortly before his death, has proven inconclusive. That means, yes, weeks of speculation of 24-hour news channels await us until we possibly learn the truth about what happened. Unless, you know, the toxicology reports also come up inconclusive. In which case, we’re screwed. source
