U.S.: Acid attack hoax: Joaquin Phoenix not the only one coming clean

  • It has had an impact on our community. It has brought negative attention on our community that is undeserved.
  • Vancouver, Washington Police Chief Clifford Cook • Regarding the acid attack that his police department spent hundreds of manhours on, only to find out that the attack was self-inflicted. Bethany Storro, 28, spent days in the hospital because of the caustic liquid thrown in her face (which fortunately didn’t hit her eyes because she had just bought new sunglasses). She claimed the attack took place at a Starbucks, but over time discrepancies started to show in her story. No word on if she’ll be charged. source

Culture: Dear Boner from Growing Pains: Rest in peace, dude.

  • Andrew Koenig was found dead in Vancouver today. Koenig, known as Mike Seaver’s sidekick “Boner” on the show, was found in a Vancouver park. He had been missing since Valentine’s Day. Our thoughts are with his family, including father Walter of Star Trek fame. source

  • LMFAO rapper Sky Blu • Regarding the Mitt Romney airplane incident where Romney reportedly got attacked by someone on an airplane. That someone was reportedly Sky Blu. LMFAO, who sucks so much that they can be put into the same sentence as Cisco Adler, is a shit-hop group. Yeah, that’s right, we called it shit-hop. What are you gonna do about it? Anyway, here’s the video of them explaining exactly what they say happened. Sky Blu claims Romney, that conservative icon, drew first blood. We hope he did. LOL. source

Culture: In case you’re wondering, we’re boycotting the Olympics on SFB.

  • Why? Because they’re boring and mind-numbing. Nothing against Shaun White, Lindsey Vonn and all the other star athletes, but we have no desire to watch or cover the Winter Olympics. (We’re slightly friendlier to the Summer Olympics, in the same way a pit bull is slightly friendlier than a lion.) Part of this is that the Olympics are boring in every way, shape and form. Part of this is because Dick Ebersol is a jerk and we don’t want to support his work. But let’s put it this way – if you’re wondering why we haven’t covered the Winter Olympic games in Vancouver, it’s because we don’t care. Thanks for listening.

Politics: The White House refutes Glenn Beck on its website. Why?

  • In the past, hosting the Olympics has been a source of pride and unity for the country, but once again Fox News’ Glenn Beck program has shown that nothing is worthy of respect if it can be used as part of a partisan attack to boost ratings.
  • White House blogger Jesse Le • Refuting a point that Glenn Beck made saying that Vancouver lost a lot of money on the Olympics. (Protip: Vancouver is hosting the Olympics in 2010, which means that Glenn Beck is an idiot.) But we’re sorry, this is not the White House’s place to refute. The reason why Obama was voted in is because he’s above this garbage. Refuting it puts him at the same level, even if the points are sound. We got this one, Jesse. • source
